Fabric Duct for OCEC-Oman Convention and Exhibition Center

Situation

Opened in October 2016,Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre （OCEC）was constructed in Muscat,Oman, to host international, regional and national conventions, exhibitions and business events.

Architecturally advanced in design and capability, this world-class venue is amongst the first to be built to meet the rigorous LEED certification- one of the most popular green building certification programs used worldwide by the U.S. Green Building Council. To apply LEED certification, OCEC selects the vendors carefully and wants to cooperate with a company which is able to gain credit for LEED application. In 2014, Durkee joined the membership of USGBC and is authorized to use the USGBC logo on company website and literature. Consequently, Durkee is entrusted to provide fabric air duct solution for the exhibition hall of OCEC with great honor.

Project overview

According to the drawing and data of the device provided, The Exhibition halls have been designed to provide a column-free space over an area of 22,000m² and can be divided into five different halls. Inputted Based on the data of the building and air handling unit, Durkee engineering team recommended a solution:

32 pcs Durkee fabric ducts were designed with 16m of installation height to disperse air drafts from 6 O'clock directions with largest air velocity range from 10-14 m/s so that the airflow to make sure the availability, CFDsimulation for the solution were conducted by engineering team to make sure the performance is in line with the theory of design on the aspect of temperature field, velocity field and humidity field. Thus, the A/C air will be dispersed evenly to the targeted area with great comforts and minimized the energy waste.
