The Classification of Air Ducts and Their Respective Characteristics

Air duct mainly refers to the ventilation duct of the central air-conditioning system. It is often neglected but an important part of the air-conditioning system. At present, there are mainly four kinds of air ducts.

1. Galvanized sheet steel plate air duct: It is one of the earliest used air ducts made of galvanized sheet steel plate and is suitable for the transport of general gas with small moisture content. This kind of air duct is easy to rust. It doesn't have insulation and noise elimination functions and takes a long production and installation cycle.

2. Inorganic glass-steel air duct: It is a new type of air duct made of glass fiber reinforced inorganic materials. This kind of air duct is incombustible, corrosion-resistant, heavy, hard but brittle, and easy to deform and crack under the influence of dead weight. In addition, it doesn't have insulation and noise elimination functions and takes a long production and installation cycle.

3. Composite fiberglass board air duct: It is a type of air duct that emerged in recent years. Using the centrifugal glass fiber plate as the base material and compounding the glass wool cloth internally as well as the moisture-proof aluminum foil externally (The imported board is coated with thermosensitive black acrylic polymer and the outer layer is thin cloth/aluminum foil/kraft paper), the air duct is made by cutting, slotting, bonding and strengthening after being compounded with the fireproof adhesive and drying.

4. Fabric air duct: It is also known as socks air duct, cloth air duct, fabric air duct and fabric air distributor, which is the latest type of air duct. Fabric air duct is a flexible air dispersion system made of special fibers and is an air-out terminal system which replaces traditional air supply ducts, air valves, air diffusers and thermal insulation materials. Besides, it is an air-out terminal system that can realize the balanced ventilation mainly depending on the unique air-out modes of fiber penetration and orifice jet-flow. 

This kind of air duct has the follwing advantages: It has surface air-out and larger air volume but without the blowing feeling; the overall air supply is evenly distributed; it can prevent condensation; it is easy to clean and maintain, healthy and environmentally friendly; it is beautiful and high-grade with color diversity and outstanding personality; it is light and the roof load can be negligible; the system runs quietly, which can improve the environmental quality; the simple installation shortens the construction cycle; the installation is flexible and the air duct is reusable; with high cost performance, the system cost is comprehensively saved.
